BEVERLY, Mass. – Numbers don’t lie. It’s a phrase commonly heard in the sports world when evaluating players and teams. However, for our Endicott College student-athletes it’s just as applicable once they graduate.

In a recent survey conducted with the entire 2015 graduating class, 98% of Endicott graduates from the class of 2015 are currently employed or pursuing post-graduate education. If that’s not evidence enough that the Endicott internship model works, 90% of 2015 graduates say their career position is related to their academic program of study. To go one step further, 53% of graduates were offered employment at their semester-long internship sites.

For our student-athletes, those statistics are just as real and important.

WHAT OUR STUDENT-ATHLETES ARE SAYING

“The job market right now is extremely tough to get into and experience is essential. Many jobs require a minimum of two to three years in a related field and my internships have proved to be crucial in my success thus far.”

“The Endicott internship program prepared me for my career by giving me the tools I need to be successful at my job. It also gave me an advantage when applying for jobs because I had much more experience coming out of college than a normal graduate would.”

“The internship program at Endicott absolutely prepared me for achieving my career goals in Graphic Design. I have various opportunities to freelance because of the portfolio and experience gained through Endicott's Internship Program.”

THE ENDICOTT INTERNSHIP MODEL

Endicott College is a pioneer in requiring comprehensive internship experiences in every program of study for undergraduate students. A philosophy of "learning by doing" permeates the college curriculum in which students are encouraged to integrate theory and practice in all of their studies.

Through their experiences in internships students will be prepared to:

  • Apply, integrate, and evaluate knowledge within a particular academic discipline
  • Develop competencies for careers and community service
  • Explore career options and gain field experience
  • Foster personal growth through increased self-confidence, interpersonal skills, an understanding of self and others, and a heightened awareness of ethical standards
  • Improve the ability to learn in a self-directed manner

"The Endicott internship model allows students to have multiple opportunities throughout their college experience to discover their passions, bolster career confidence, and develop a marketable skill set while creating a professional network that will serve them well after graduation," said Endicott's Dean of the Internship and Career Center Eric Hall. "Endicott students leave with the career-readiness competencies and passion needed to excel in today's workforce."

The Endicott Experience feature aims to highlight the entirety of the student-athletes' experiential learning journey throughout their academic careers. The student-athlete at Endicott is afforded the same opportunities as the general student population at the College as it relates to internships, study abroad, and postgraduate career pursuits. This philosophy mirrors the mission statement of the College which every student is encouraged to take intellectual risks, pursue scholarly and creative interests, contribute to the community, and explore diverse career paths.
